Arthritis Center Director C. Kent Kwoh, MD, MACR, delivers keynote at International Workshop on Osteoarthritis Imaging

C. Kent Kwoh, MD, MACR, director of the University of Arizona Arthritis Center (UAAC), is scheduled to deliver the opening keynote address at the 18th Annual International Workshop on Osteoarthritis Imaging (IWOAI): 'Structure and Pain: Where are we today?' The 2024 IWOAI is being held in Marrakech, Morocco from June 25 - 28.

The title of Dr. Kwoh's keynote presentation is 'Pain in OA: nociceptive, neuropathic, and nociplastic - all relevant in clinical trials?'. He is also the moderator of the round table discussion 'Clinical Trials: Where do we go from here?' and an author on the abstract titled: 'Association of MRI-defined structure features at baseline with knee pain trajectories'. The authors - all University of Arizona faculty - were awarded the prize for the highest-rated abstract at this year's IWOAI. Shen Liu, MS, from the UA's department of epidemiology and biostatistics in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, is the lead author. 

In addition to his position as director of the UAAC, Dr. Kwoh serves as professor of medicine and medical imaging in the UA College of Medicine - Tucson, chief of the UA division of rheumatology and associate director of the rheumatology fellowship program. He also holds the Charles A.L. and Suzanne M. Stephens Endowed Chair in Rheumatology. He is an internationally-recognized expert in the identification, development and progression of osteoarthritis and the characterization of pain patterns in osteoarthritis.
