Today is #GivingTuesday. As on every other day of the year, the physicians, researchers, and staff of the University of Arizona Arthritis Center are ALL PULLING TOGETHER.
The University of Arizona Arthritis Center made note this morning that it’s #GivingTuesday, the latest iteration of post-Thanksgiving spending days. The global online movement dedicated to giving back puts the spotlight on generosity, inspiring people around the world to invest in causes they believe in.
Since its inception in 2012, more than $55 million has been raised to support over 10,000 participating organizations.
Created by the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at New York’s 92nd Street Y, the effort is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and PayPal with additional support of more than a dozen organizations, including philanthropic and non-profit fundraising groups.
Notes Kent Kwoh, MD, UA Arthritis Center director, chief of the UA Division of Rheumatology, the Charles A.L. and Suzanne M. Stephens Endowed Chair in Rheumatology, and professor of medicine and medical imaging, in his email message, “We are pulling together to beat arthritis with leading-edge research, patient-centered care, and in our many community outreach and education programs.
“None of this work would be possible without the annual support of donors just like you. Tax-deductible gifts of all sizes underwrite proof-of-concept research, allow us to invest in technology that helps our patients, and provide the funds for our important outreach and educational work.
